John Ramsden's event was a spectacular night. His management of the event, live on stage interacting with film content and audience participation was brilliant. His 99 stories were film clips of incidents from the past, full of humour, nostalgia and some personal experiences.
The venue at Croydon Hills Baptist Church is an excellent technically well equipped multi-media venue. And Johns event filled the hall!
The other successful event manged by a RMM Club member Moulinath and his team was the ‘Seen ‘n Heard’ film festival at the ShowBiz cinema in Pinewood on the 30 & 31st August. The films included the RMM films ‘Expectations, Tatts It and Ekti Cup’. They all looked magnificent on the big hall screen. There were four sessions seats were all booked out (320 in all). Among the audience a few ministers and VIPs (Ron Fry and Elizabeth) and the resounding feedback it was a great success.
Norm played an interview recorded with Jullian Hill, M.P. (Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs, Assistant Minister for International Education) and conducted by Mouli’s wife Aradhna,on Julian’s impressions after seeing the films. He was very impressed and is response was that film was an important tool for community communication.
The point is our RMM films look good on the big Theatre screens and are well appreciated.
Projects coming up:
Bird Shoot Reminder remember to film the birds in your area.
Events to Attend:

Next General Meeting Reminder:
15th September .
Shorts Topic: "I can’t remember”
This Meeting details:
Shorts: “I don’t care!”
We had one films on Topic;
Member Film:
No extra member films tonight
Topic for the Night: Quarterly Competition
There were six entries submitted (SIX!!) and marks indicated it was not an easy competition to judge – which one is? They varied from top to bottom by only 4.2%, with three entries being judged within 74%. However, it was Philip Hughes, whose Visit to Prague was judged the best with 76.3%.
Norm then shared a set of films from a South African film group he is a member of. The films illustrate what can happen when the same footage, shot by different photographers, then given to different editors to edit, can produce different, but in some ways similar, and interesting stories. There was general interest and a consensus said they would be interested in having a go at a similar project.
The meeting ended with Norm looking forward to what lies ahead for us between now and Christmas. (Shock Horror!)
The meeting finished with supper back in the usual place at the end of the evening.
