20th June 2025
Note the date. At this meeting, the best odds – probably ever – occurred for the
club raffle. Brian provided our usual four prizes and only nine members were in
attendance to battle for them. I was one of the winners.
This Rumble business played havoc with our normal meeting program. Norm wasn’t
there, Joe wasn’t there, and, presumably, the other absentees were with them
working on their movies too. It they weren’t doing that, they must have been
down at the pub.
Elizabeth did a great job keeping the rest of us entertained. Her topic was colour
in movies. Which coincided with the shorts topic. Maureen started us off with a
clever compilation of scenes of different colours and changing colours. In making
it, she must have learnt a lot about DaVinci and what it can do. Elizabeth made a
film about the colours of the Flinder’s Ranges, including making water colours from
the dirt she dug up.
Then Elizabeth introduced us to a series of instructional videos explaining how
colour is made up and how the big boys use them to make us feel happy, sad,
angry, scared, - you name it. I hadn’t realised how important it is and what effects
it can have.
It is such a huge topic I’m not going to attempt to explain all that goes on and why.
